Enriched Air Nitrox Diver

You may have seen people diving on tanks marked with green & yellow tape saying something like “NITROX” and maybe you’ve wondered what it is. Maybe everybody on your liveaboard trip signed up for a week’s worth or you just noticed the extra line on the boat waiver for it. Maybe you’ve heard people talk about “Gucci Gas” or “Geezer Juice” and been intrigued. Maybe somebody even tried to make it sound like something scary that required heaps of training and lots of money to get into.

It’s neither scary nor expensive, but it can change how you dive – longer dive times, shorter surface intervals, etc. Want to learn more? You’ll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During the class, you’ll:

  • Discuss managing oxygen exposure.
  • Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank.
  • Set your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.
