Underwater photography is one of the most popular diving specialties, and with so many underwater cameras to choose from, it has become easier and more fun than ever to capture images of your underwater scuba adventures. The Digital Underwater Photographer course gets you going quickly, whether you use a point-and-shoot camera or a sophisticated dSLR like the pros. With hands on training during your two dives, you will learn:

  • How to choose the right underwater camera system for you
  • The PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine, Adjust) method for getting great shots quickly
  • Principles for good composition of underwater images
  • Practical techniques to take great photos with

Schedule

In order to finish this course, there are 2 dives you’ll need to complete.  While it is possible to do all the dives from the beach, most people prefer to complete this course over at Catalina Island.  To do both Digital Underwater Photographer 1 & 2, there is also class room time needed after the dives to go over skills in post production.

Make sure you check our DB Scuba calendar to find out when we're next running this course. Let us know if you are interested but don't see it on the calendar.

Price

The price of the course is $385. This includes materials, instruction, certification, and our full rental package (BCD, regulator w/computer, wetsuit, hood, tanks, and weights). Boat tickets are not included, but highly recommended. Beyond using basic scuba equipment, you’ll also need a digital underwater camera and a computer or other device for downloading and viewing your images.

This course also counts towards your Master Scuba Diver Rating! Want to read more about other specialties we can offer you? Here they are!
